“This started out two years ago as an EP with just three vaguely eastern sounding straight 4/4 tracks I was going to release, then I made ‘Loot’ which set it off into something else. I’ve always used samples for vocals and theres loads on my last album but with Loot I asked a singer (Alyssa Jane) to ‘do her own thing’ on it. A collaboration rather than direction. This made me think ‘Reet, I’m going to do a full abum where everything including vocals are original’. The rest of the tracks added are moslty experimental breaks stuff, I like the idea of dark/light and dancy then just for listening stuff being contrasted together but still working as part of a whole. About Acrobotik
Acrobotik is one of the many monikers and projects of Brian Feral a producer, artist and ‘reluctant to perform even though I love it’ DJ from Newcastle upon Scotland. Acrobotik is his outlet for releasing more musicaly refined ‘dancable organic/analog sounding electronica stuff’. He has spent nearly 20 years lovingly crafting functional music that “should move something, like your feet or heart – or don’t bother” inspired by a plethora of genres but more specificaly by the likes of Lee Burridge, Max Cooper, Bicep, Aphex, Boards of Canada, Cocteau Twins, DAVI, (earlier)Bowie, Daniel Avery, Floating Points, Beirut, Jon Talabot, HVOB, DjRUM, Weval, For Tet, Lindstrom, Rival Consoles, Sebastien Leger, Bonobo & Bjork.
Brians other projects and aliases include LUGJOY, Synthetic Organs (with Funsize Jonny), Somastream (with Lex Frizbe), and has collaborated on many remixes for artists that play actual real instruments, notably and recently for Newcastle legends Parastatic – A Building is a Weapon.
